Asparagus

The ‘Queen of Vegetables’
No longer an expensive luxury – much breeding work has been done on Asparagus in recent years. The varieties we offer are F1 Male Hybrids – that will give a much heavier crop than many of the older types.
Asparagus Care Instructions
Planting is best carried out late March/April after the worst of the winter is over. Soil must be fertile, well-drained and prepared with plenty of organic matter. Plants will not establish well on a heavy soil. A few spears can be picked in year 2, but ideally leave harvesting until year 3.
Beware – slugs love young crowns and will happily hollow out your young roots, shoots and spears!
We offer two varieties – early and late cropping to extend the all-too short season.
Backlim
