BLACKBERRIES
Thornfree cultivated blackberries bear large berries of excellent flavour. Plant against fences or train up canes and space 1.8m-2.5m(6-8ft) apart. They prefer moist, enriched, well-worked soil. Completely remove old wood each autumn.
Oregon Thornless
An excellent new variety, of moderate growth. Freely cropping the fruit is large and of good flavour. Certainly more favourable than a blackberry with thorns. Finely divided, parsley-like foliage with good autumn colour.
Black Satin
A new cultivar of Blackberry having many good points – thornless, heavy cropping, large fruit and wilt resistant.

BLACKCURRANTS
Blackcurrants prefer a deep fertile soil and respond well to feeding. They fruit on wood made in the previous summer, old fruiting wood should be pruned immediately after fruiting to encourage new wood to be produced. Plant 1m(3ft) apart, and 2m(6ft) between rows.
Ben Lomond
An early variety – strong and reliable. Good quality fruit.
Ben Sarek
A new dwarf variety, high yields of large fruit. Recommended for small gardens. Good resistance to mildew and leaf midge.

GOOSEBERRIES
Do not like dry conditions. A thick mulch of compost, or rotted manure will help to keep the roots cool and moist. Plant 1.5m(5ft) apart.
Invicta
A new mildew resistant variety, extremely heavy cropping and vigorous. The fruit is large, smooth, oval and pale green and has a good flavour. Ideal for culinary use.
Hinnonmaki Yellow
A relatively recent cultivar, yellow fruits, sweet to the taste when left on the bush for as long as possible. Some mildew resistance.
Whinhams Industry
Few thorns and sweet dark fruits are produced in July and August.

REDCURRANTS
Red currants need a good soil, and benefit from feeding, and irrigation. Bird protection is essential!!

High yielding variety, long strings of large bright tasty berries

RASPBERRIES
Raspberries prefer a light sandy soil. Newly planted canes often fail, because they are planted too deeply, it is essential to plant at the correct depth, the fibrous roots about 7.5cm(3in) below soil level. Space canes 0.5m(18in) apart and up to 2m(6ft) in between rows.
Glen Moy
One of the earliest of the summer-fruiting raspberries. Fruits ripen in late June. Best in well-drained soil.
Malling Jewel
A good mid-season variety – excellent flavour – ripening in mid July.
Autumn Bliss
A heavy cropping variety, recommended for autumn fruits. The berries are large, an attractive red, firm textured and good flavoured.

STRAWBERRIES
Strawberries prefer soils rich in humus. Plant 0.5m(15-18in) apart, ensuring the crown is not set too deeply. Ensure the surface around the strawberries is kept weed free. Mulching with straw protects the fruit and retains moisture.
Elsanta – Main Crop – SOLD OUT
An early, long cropping variety with fruit of an excellent quality, flavour and size. Much favoured by commercial growers for its reliability – cropping from mid-June to mid-July. Good all-round producers – suitable for early forcing and main season crops.

LOGANBERRY
Thornless LY654
Excellent for culinary uses, but not for eating fresh. Dark red fruits ready for picking mid July-August.

BLUEBERRIES
Easy to grow in free draining, fertile soil where the soil is pH 4.5-5.5. If your soil is more alkaline consider growing in pots or raised beds of ericaceous compost. Water with collected rain water rather than tap water. Yields are best 2 years after planting. We offer 3 year old plants in 2L pots.
Bluecrop
One of the most dependable late season blueberries, growing well in most types of acidic soils, producing constant yields of very sweet small/medium sized berries.

ARONIA MELANOCARPA ‘VIKING’
An unusual and up and coming fruit – very high in Vitamin C and other important micro elements including iodine. Can be eaten fresh, although a little sharp, delicious stewed, used in preserves – very high in pectin so ideal for use in jam making for fruits that are not. Excellent for juice, wine and drying.

GOJI BERRY
The new Super Food – contains weight for weight more vitamin C than oranges, more beta carotene than carrots and more iron than steak!! Fruits high in anti-oxidants. Tasting somewhat similar when dried to raisins, they can be eaten fresh, cooked or for best results dried, brewed into a refreshing tea or dried berries can be soaked in water for a tonic. Shake gently from the bush rather than pick to avoid damage to the berries when picking. Prefer full sun or partial shade – they will not tolerate heavy wet soils. Ideal for growing in a pot or container – ensure good drainage.

RHUBARB
Planting is best carried out in the late autumn, although it can be carried out until the end of March. Plant crowns slightly above ground level. Planting too deeply will cause failure.

Stockbridge Arrow
Derives its name from the arrow shaped leaves. Mid season variety with high quality thick stems.
